Philip Leslie Penman is a commercial lawyer and consultant who practises mainly in Sydney. He lives in Woollahra and is married with 3 children. Philip has Arts and Law degrees from The University of Sydney, and was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1971. He became a partner of Smithers Warren & Tobias in 1973.

Philip was Managing Partner and a Senior Commercial Partner of the Australian Legal firm Philips Fox. He left Sydney in 1987 to work in London and West Africa for 4 years with a mining group and as a private consultant to several property groups. Philip remained a consultant to Phillips Fox until 1990.

Upon returning to Australia, Philip resumed legal practice and is now the principal consultant at Tactick Pty Ltd. Tactick provides strategic consultancy advice and management services to a range of selected business and charitable clients.

Philip has been involved in commercial law, property development, mining, security and joint ventures, mergers and project management/co-ordination for over 30 years.

He has been involved in all aspects of property finance, development, mining, security and joint venture projects both in Australia and overseas. Having acted for a wide range of public and private companies, as well as individuals and partnership/syndicate structures, Philip has an extensive knowledge of Australian and international corporate and commercial practice.

Sydney is his main operating base and Philip has undertaken the role of project director/coordinator for a number of property developments and company projects. Philip has worked mainly in Australia (principally Sydney) and London. He has also had short term assignments in Hong Kong, the United States of America and West Africa.

Phillip’s recreational pursuits include golf, tennis, reading and swimming. He is a member of the Australian Golf Club and the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust.
